I’m sure all the boys and girls of Prep C have spoken to you about the golden handshake. Every afternoon I put on a very long golden glove while the children wait in anticipation. While wearing the glove I choose someone in the class who has been caught doing something special for someone else or who has been a very hard worker that day. I then give them the ‘Golden Handshake’ explaining why I have chosen to give the handshake to them. The most amazing thing happens when I give the handshake. Not only does the person I give it to feel proud, but the others in the class congratulate the person and show them how proud they are. We are a real team in Prep C! The other day I decided to try something different with my class. I decided that I was going to choose someone who would like to give the golden handshake to a member of our class and explain why. I chose Isabelle and while wearing the glove she thought very hard about who he was going to give the golden handshake to. After a lot of thinking he chose Kelli and told us the reason why she chose her was because she was helping to clean our classroom and was working as a team! How impressive!! I wonder if you can catch someone this week who is doing something you think is worthy of ‘The Golden Handshake’.
